Our story
How we started:
From humble beginnings
Our founder, Mena Mikhail, began his business journey in 2012 as a community pharmacist in Gisborne, a small regional town in Victoria. What started as one location quickly expanded into a portfolio spanning pharmacy, grocery, hospitality, early learning, and dental clinics.
By his late twenties, he'd built and exited multiple businesses, achieving entrepreneurial freedom early in his career. Over time and through strategic partnerships, the portfolio has grown to 35+ ventures across Australia, supporting a workforce of over 500 team members.

Why we started:
The repeating challenge
Early on in his business journey, Mena noticed a pattern. Ambitious business owners were caring deeply, working relentlessly, with real potential, but facing growth alone. They lacked the three critical ingredients when they needed them most: capital, operational support, and trustworthy growth partners. This left them vulnerable to their fiercer, bigger competitors.
Whilst growing a business can be extremely rewarding, it's equally challenging and exhausting when going at it solo. This was Mena's own lived experience.

Mena captured his business learnings into a proven growth system that HEVEN now harnesses to deliver consistent success across multiple sectors, partnering with ambitious founders, owners, investors and service partners to grow purpose-driven businesses.
At the core of our worldview is an unshakeable belief that the pursuit of positive human impact and commercial growth are intrinsically connected: never one without the other.

The HEVEN Giving Fund
Established in 2023 by our founder Mena and his wife Kristin, the HEVEN Giving Fund was born from a simple conviction: that business, done well, is a force for good - and that prosperity carries a responsibility to share it.

The Fund is the philanthropic heart of HEVEN, channelling the founding family’s contributions towards education empowerment, health equity and social justice for vulnerable children and orphans across Australia, Oceania and Africa.
But the Fund is also an inspiration to our investors, operators and wider network - to be part of a community of conscious givers, proving together that doing well and doing good aren't separate paths, but one shared journey.
